Preliminary agenda

The witty slogan of the INTEGROMED conference is: ”Science causes all kinds of reactions!” and it summarizes the implementation of the INTEGROMED project which aims to increase the excellence of Latvian Biomedical Research and Study Centre (LBMC) in research and innovation in the field of translational medicine using omics based approaches.

Brief look back at the INTEGROMED project. In 2019, when the project was started none knew nothing about SARS-CoV-2 virus and COVID-19 and how it will change the world and the course of the project. Thanks to Horizon 2020 programme funding to this project, during COVID-19 pandemic LBMC have capitalized and learned from three internationally renowned partners in the field of medical research – University of Dundee (United Kingdom), Lund University (Sweden), and Weizmann Institute of Science (Israel). The virtual format of the meetings allowed other stakeholders from wide range of organizations to be included in project activities and benefit from it! Since then the LBMC has successfully implemented Latvian Microbiome project, introduced the metabolomics method for the analysis of blood serum and fecal samples, improved Latvian Genome database data management, developed many new collaborations with other research groups in Baltic states and Nordic countries, signed a memorandum of understanding with European Molecular Biology Laboratory (EMBL) and organized first Latvian Bioinformatics forum! INTEGROMED conference is an unique opportunity to celebrate these successes, strengthen the old and new research collaborations and  exchange the knowledge on 8th & 9th September in Riga and virtually trough ZOOM!
